Committee Description

This SOCHUM committee will address the concerns currently threatening privacy in our digitally expanding world. From information trading to data breaches, from state surveillance to artificial intelligence, society’s greatest technological advances also lead to great ethical concerns. Understanding that privacy is a key right, now under a new form of peril, delegates will have to work together to brainstorm innovative solutions to one of the world’s most universal issues.

Furthermore, this committee will also delve deep into the persecution exalted by certain governments on minorities, and what the United Nations can do in response. Whether it be the Uyghurs in China, the Kurdish in Turkey, or another victimized group, international human rights must be upheld. Delegates will be tasked with constructing elaborate yet feasible plans to narrow the scope of this issue while respecting the sovereignty of member states.
