Committee Description

The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) is the world’s largest international police organization, facilitating cross-border cooperation among law enforcement agencies to combat transnational crime. INTERPOL operates on the principles of political neutrality, respect for national sovereignty, and mutual assistance, enabling member states to coordinate intelligence, investigations, and enforcement efforts against global criminal threats. Delegates will represent national law enforcement authorities working within INTERPOL’s framework, balancing domestic legal constraints with the need for effective international cooperation.

This committee will address the rise of online extremist groups on social media and the issue of consumer demand in driving transnational crime. Both issues have reached a critical point, as their negative impacts have intensified international security concerns, social polarization, and criminal activity across borders. Through debate and negotiation, delegates are expected to develop practical and coordinated responses that reflect INTERPOL’s real-world limitations, including its non-binding authority, reliance on voluntary member state cooperation, and strict commitment to political neutrality. Success in this committee will depend on delegates’ ability to collaborate across legal and cultural differences, adapt to evolving digital and economic threats, and craft realistic enforcement strategies in an increasingly interconnected world.
